FastJet Gets Go-Ahead For Zim Airline
FastJet will soon be operating from Zimbabwe, too, as the international airline has been awarded permission to operate within, to and and from Zimbabwe.
FastJet was granted a certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, stating that they are now allowed to operate within the country. FastJet Zimbabwe Ltd. now has a license to operate domestic, as well as international routes to and from the country.
Domestically, FastJet Zimbabwe will link Harare to Victoria Falls three times a week, initially. Depending on the popularity of the route, FastJet Zimbabwe might look at adding more dates to the Harare/Victoria Falls route.
CEO of FastJet, Ed Winter, said that they are extremely pleased to add another airline to their network and that the addition of the Zimbabwean airline will help them reach their goal of being a premier low-cost carrier in Africa:
“…[sic] Adding a second fastjet airline to our network is an incredibly significant milestone on our path to becoming the most successful pan African low-cost airline…We recognised the real potential in Zimbabwe some time ago and have been working hard together with the relevant authorities towards this momentous day.”
Tickets for domestic flights on FastJet Zimbabwe went on sale yesterday.
