Fans Bid Farewell to Rock Legend Ozzy Osbourne

July 31, 2025

Thousands of music lovers gathered in Birmingham, England, to pay their final respects to Ozzy Osbourne on Wednesday, 30 July.

The 76-year-old Black Sabbath frontman’s coffin travelled in a hearse along major route Broad Street, stopping at the Black Sabbath Bridge and a bench where mourners from around the world had left flowers and messages.

Crowds chanted “Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy!” as local brass group Bostin’ Brass performed, while fans threw flowers onto the passing procession.

Sharon Osbourne was seen wearing one of her late husband’s wedding rings on a chain around her neck. Their children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis joined her to greet supporters, flashing peace signs before leaving.

Birmingham’s lord mayor, Zafar Iqbal, called Osbourne “more than a music legend – he was a son of Birmingham,” praising the city’s decision to give him a fitting public tribute before his family held an intimate funeral for their late patriarch.

Osbourne – who had lived with Parkinson’s disease and struggled with long-term mobility issues since a 2003 quad bike accident – returned to England in 2023 with Sharon to “live out their final chapter”, before he passed away last Tuesday, 22 July.

His passing prompted tributes worldwide, with Elton John describing him as “a dear friend and a huge trailblazer… a true legend.”
