Eswatini PM Moved to SA for COVID-19 Treatment
The prime minister of eSwatini, Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, is currently receiving treatment in neighbouring South Africa, after he recently contracted coronavirus (COVID-19).
The 52-year-old politician announced in mid-November that he had tested positive for the virus, but seemed to be in good health while isolating at home, as well as appeared asymptomatic.
In a statement on Tuesday, 1 December, Dlamini’s deputy, Themba Masuku, gave a brief update on his superior’s condition.
He said: “To guide and fast-track the recovery, a decision has been taken that [Dlamini] be transferred to a South African hospital this afternoon.”
Eswatini – formerly known as Swaziland – has seen 6 442 cases of COVID-19. So far, 122 citizens have lost their lives to it, while 6 017 have recovered thus far.
