EPL Title Race: Man City or Liverpool?
As the Premier League 2018/19 season sprints to the finish – with only three rounds of fixtures remaining – here’s an overview of the closest title race in years.
Manchester City’s 2-0 victory at Manchester United on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 gave the Sky Blues a tighter grip on the top of the log.
With only one point between City, currently on 89 points, and their challengers, Liverpool, on 88, it’s hard to imagine the race being tighter than this.
As a consolation prize, however, whichever team finishes in second place will have achieved the Premier League’s best-ever runners-up finish.
Although both teams are likely to win most of their games in the last three rounds and are equally capable of acquiring enough points to win the league, City remains the favourite amongst commentators.
For Liverpool to end their 29-year domestic title drought, they would have to win all their remaining games and hope for City to stumble to a draw or a loss of one of their games.
