EPL 2025/26 Set for Thrilling Opening Weekend

August 15, 2025

The upcoming English Premier League (EPL) 2025/2026 season kicks off tonight, Friday 15 August, with champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield Stadium in England.

Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike are in line for their Reds debuts, but Arne Slot’s side must address defensive lapses from their pre-season matches.

Tomorrow’s early fixture sees Aston Villa welcome Newcastle, with Unai Emery’s side defending an impressive unbeaten home record of 24 games.

Brighton & Hove Albion face Fulham at American Express Stadium in Brighton. Meanwhile, Sunderland return to the top flight against West Ham, and Tottenham Hotspur begin new life under Thomas Frank at home to battle Burnley.

Wolverhampton Wanderers host Manchester City in the evening, with Pep Guardiola expected to hand new goalkeeper James Trafford his debut.

Sunday, 17 August, offers Chelsea versus Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge Stadium in London, where Joao Pedro and Liam Delap could lead the line.

Next will be a headline clash between Manchester United and Arsenal. Both sides have bolstered their attacks and will look to make an early statement.

The weekend closes on Monday, 18 August, as Leeds United mark their EPL return against Everton at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds. The visitors arrive with Jack Grealish set for his league debut under David Moyes, while Leeds fans prepare to welcome back – and possibly jeer at – former loanee, Jack Harrison.

The stage is set for an action-packed opening round.
