English Club Sign JP Pietersen

One of South Africa’s star rugby players, JP Pietersen, has signed a contract with English rugby club, the Leicester Tigers.

The Springbok wing has already has a long standing and very successful career in South Africa, where he had been playing for the Sharks that are based in Durban.

He has also has various impressive performances for the South African national rugby team, most notably last year at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

As of late, Pietersen spent his time playing rugby in Japan for the Panasonic Wild Knights rugby club.

Richard Cockerill, director of rugby for the Leicester Tigers, said that the are delighted to have Pietersen join their team:

“…[sic] JP is a world-class finisher and offers a threat in the wide channels…We have been looking to add world-class quality throughout the squad and JP is certainly in that class…He has played at the very highest levels of the game for a long time but he still has a lot to offer and is keen to experience club rugby in Europe,” he said.

Pietersen also said that he was looking forward to the change:

“…I’m really looking forward to joining up with a quality team like Leicester Tigers and competing for silverware in the Premiership and European Champions Cup…I have spent the majority of my career in South Africa and the past few years in Japan and I feel that it’s a perfect time to experience something new,” he commented.
