England Beats Wales At Euro 2016
England has successfully beat their neighbours, Wales, after a tight game against each other on Thursday at the European Championship in France.
At first, it seemed that Wales had the upper hand with superstar Gareth Bale scoring the first goal to put Wales in the lead.
However, things quickly changed after half-time when England brought on Vardy and Sturridge.
Vardy had scored the equaliser in the 56th minute, bringing the score to 1 – 1.
But it was Sturridge that clinched the win for England with a goal during stoppage time that brought the final score to 2 – 1 and handed the win to England.
English coach, Roy Hodgson, said that he was very impressed with both Vardy and Sturridge:
“…When the chances don’t go in and you’ve compounded your task by conceding that Gareth Bale goal, it really is a happy moment when both the substitutes score…I thought it was on the cards all the way through the second half,” he said.
