Emma Stone Tops Forbes’ List

Emma Stone, has had a stellar year. Not only has the ‘La La Land’ actress won the coveted Best Actress Academy Award this year, she has also just been named Forbes’ highest paid actress for 2017.

At just 28 years old, Emma tops the list with a whopping US$26 million made over the past 12 months.

It should come as no surprise, as Emma has had consistent film roles over the past two years, and the Oscar-winning ‘La La Land’ was one of the biggest films of the year, raking in US$445.3 million at the global box office.

While US$26 million is no small amount, it is only a fraction of what her male counterpart made this year.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was named Forbes’ highest paid actor this year, earning a stunning US$64.5 million over the past 12 months.

This, of course, brings up the ongoing issue of the gender pay gap in Hollywood. Actresses have started speaking out on the unfair payment by studio executives in Hollywood, with male actors often earning double or triple the amount earned by female actors.

Famous actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Aniston have all spoken up against the gender pay gap.

Other actresses that made the top ten list of Forbes’ highest paid actresses this year, include Jennifer Lawrence,Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett.
