Emery: Arsenal to Sign 4 Players This Season
Despite being unsuccessful so far in their pursuit to bolster their squad this summer transfer window, Arsenal manager, Unai Emery is confident that the Gunners will bring in three or four new players before the start of the new season.
So far, Emery has only managed to sign 18-year-old forward Gabriel Martinelli, while the rest of his bids have either been rejected or negotiations have dragged on longer than expected.
Although Arsenal have a smaller budget than the majority of their closest Premier League rivals, Emery is pursuing some quality targets who can really improve his squad.
Arsenal’s summer transfer activity so far has included bids for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Kieran Tierney of Celtic, Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba, and recently there have been reports that the Gunners are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder, Dani Ceballos on loan.
Emery recently confirmed during an interview ahead of Arsenal’s opening International Champions Cup match against Bayern Munich in Los Angeles, that there’ll be more transfer activity in the coming days, with a push to sign three or more players.
He said: “Our target is to achieve three, four players to really improve our team and squad now. We are being very demanding and we are also first speaking about the possibility to sign very big players, very expensive.”
