EgyptAir: Plane Broke Up Mid-air
The EgyptAir flight that crashed into the Mediterranean in May reportedly broke up in mid-air, if a new report by the New York Times is to be believed.
According to the New York Times, the flight broke up in mid-air, after a fire broke out in the cabin of the aircraft or possibly the cockpit.
The theory of a fire a fire seems to correlate with earlier reports that the pilots reported a fire on board the plane before it lost signal and plummeted into the ocean.
LAst week, the Egyptian investigators who were the lead on examining the wreckage and the the investigation and analysis of the black boxed found in the wreckage, said that the word “fire” could be heard on the black boxes’ voice recorder.
However, investigators also said that besides the voice recorder data, other factors also point towards a fire on board that could have caused the plane to break up in mid-air.
These factors include the condition of the debris and human remains found in the wreckage, as well as other data recovered from the plane’s black boxes.
