September 05, 2018

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is warning his fans to stay “vigilant” of fake social media accounts created using his name.

In an Instagram video, the “Jumanji” actor told his followers to look out for online scammers that are impersonating him. Their scams involve posing as Johnson on social media, asking his followers for money, and promising materialistic gifts in return.

Johnson said: “To everyone around the world, certainly on Facebook and social media, there has been a ton of fake impostors setting up fake Facebook accounts in my name asking you guys for money.”

The former wrestler added: “I’m the guy who was evicted at 15, as you guys know. By 23, I had seven bucks in my pocket. I value a hard-earned dollar and I would never ask you guys for money.”

Johnson told fans to “be vigilant, be smart”, and that he is currently working with the authorities on the matter.
