Dr Dre Faces Backlash over College Post
Dr Dre has deleted an Instagram post bragging about his daughter getting into the University of Southern California (USC), after a social media backlash regarding his donation to the college.
The rapper, whose real name is Andre Young, posted a picture on Saturday of himself and his daughter, Truly Young, with the caption: “My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!”
Dre’s comment is referring to the recent college admissions scandal, which saw fifty people, including celebs such as Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, arrested for bribery, fraud and mail fraud, which they took part in in order to get their children into college.
However, by Sunday the post had been taken down, amidst backlash after the resurfaced news that Dre and Beats Electronics co-founder Jimmy Iovine made a massive $70 million donation to USC six years ago.
The pair now have a building named after them — the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation – calling Dre’s daughter’s merits into question.
Huffman and Loughlin are set to appear in a Boston court on April 3.
