Donald Glover Opens Up About Tour-Halting Stroke

November 25, 2025

Donald Glover has revealed that a stroke he suffered last year was the reason behind the abrupt cancellation of his Childish Gambino world tour.

The 42-year-old actor and musician shared the news on stage at Tyler, the Creator’s “Camp Flog Gnaw” festival in Los Angeles, California, last Saturday, 22 November. It was his first major performance since he fell ill.

Glover told the crowd that he first realised something was wrong when he felt “a really bad pain” in his head during a show in Louisiana and struggled to see clearly. After travelling to Houston, Texas, he visited a local hospital where doctors informed him that he had suffered a stroke.

He admitted his initial reaction was feeling as though he was “letting everybody down”, and joked that he thought he was imitating Jamie Foxx, who had suffered a stroke in 2023.

His health challenges did not end there. Glover revealed he had broken a foot and later underwent two surgeries after doctors discovered a hole in his heart.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he told fans: “They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realise you have one.”

The cancelled tour had been planned as his final outing under the Childish Gambino name.
