Donald and Melania Trump Contract COVID-19

October 02, 2020

United States president, Donald Trump, has confirmed that he and his wife, Melania Trump, have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Taking to Twitter early on Friday, 2 October, the 74-year-old politician revealed his diagnosis, as well as Mrs Trump’s.

He wrote: “Tonight, [Mrs Trump] and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER [sic]!”

The 50-year-old first lady affirmed her husband’s statement, tweeting the same day: “[Trump and] I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & [sic] I have postponed all upcoming engagements.”

This comes after Hope Hicks – a top White House official who regularly travels with the president to events such as debates and rallies – tested positive for the COVID-19 yesterday, Thursday 3 October.

Trump has been heavily criticised for the mishandling of the pandemic, which has so far infected 7 494 671 American citizens, of which 212 660 have succumbed to the virus.
