Diddy to Walk Free in 2028 After Prostitution Conviction
Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to be released from prison on 8 May 2028, following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges.
The 55-year-old music mogul is currently serving a 50-month sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, having been in custody since his September 2024 arrest.
Combs was also handed a $500 000 fine and ordered to undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment. He had faced up to 20 years in prison, but the judge ruled that prosecutors’ call for an 11-year term was beyond “necessary.”
During his sentencing in early October, Combs apologised to his victims, including ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, saying: “My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick… I’ve been humbled and broken to my core.”
While acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, Combs plans to appeal the conviction, with his lawyers arguing the sentence was inconsistent with the jury’s verdict.
The case followed testimony detailing years of abuse and coercion, which the judge described as a “pattern of violence.”
Combs’ release will mark one of the most significant downfalls in modern music history.
