According to various reports, hundreds of people have already been displaced by the storm and have been taken to shelter.

The education ministry of Madagascar also closed schools on Wednesday.

Planned activities to celebrate yesterday’s International Women’s Day were also cancelled as people were urged to stay indoors and barricade themselves from the storm.

According to the latest bulletin from the meteorology agency, people in some regions of the country need to brace themselves for heavy downpours and winds of 65km/h and more, with gusts of 90km/h.
