Crystal Palace: Sakho Too Expensive
Crystal Palace manager, Frank de Boer, has said that Liverpool’s asking price for defender, Mamadou Sakho, is too high.
The French international has been with Crystal Palace, on loan from Liverpool, since February of this year. During his time with the Eagles, Sakho made eight appearances between February and April.
However, it seems that Sakho may be on his way back to Liverpool, as De Boer has refused to pay Liverpool’s asking price of around £30 million for the defender.
Liverpool bought Sakho in 2013 from Paris Saint-Germain for £18 million.
“Everybody knows he had a major impact last season and, when he’s available for us, I think that is a quality injection for the club…It is not like this now because he is much too expensive for the club [sic],” De Boer recently told reporters.
Earlier in the month, De Boer praised Sakho’s contribution to the team, saying that he not only has a great impression on the field, but that he is also a great team player and has made an impact “in the dressing room”.
De Boer said that it is rare to find both qualities in a player.
The 27-year-old has not publicly commented on his future, whether at Crystal Palace or Liverpool.
