Cristiano Ronaldo Wants to Leave Spain
Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has announced that Ronaldo is free to relocate despite his contract only being due to end in 2021. Whoever may want the four-time Ballon d’Or-winner, however, will need to pay a staggering £880 million release clause.
Following a trying summer, rumours that Ronaldo wants out of Spain are rife. Speaking with Onda Cero, a Spanish radio station, Perez insisted that he will resolve the situation with Ronaldo.
The 32-year-old soccer star has been charged with defrauding the Spanish over €14.5 million in unpaid tax. He was said to be angered at his treatment by Spanish tax authorities and by the lack of support from his club.
Perez strongly denied this, saying, “I don’t think he is annoyed at us, I think he is annoyed at the general situation.”
It has recently been revealed that Ronaldo has urged his agent, Jorge Mendes, to “do everything possible” to secure a return to EPL team, Manchester United.
The Portuguese forward fell out with Man United boss, Jose Mourinho, back in 2013, after Mourinho’s final season with Real Madrid.
It seems that Mourinho is not quite ready to bury the hatchet, after a source close to him revealed that he is not interested in signing Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has ignored pleas from Real boss, Zinedine Zidane, to reconsider his position.
However, not all hope is lost for Ronaldo. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich are all said to be potential suitors for the forward. PSG are rumoured to be willing to offer €140 million for the star.
