Conte Extends Contract with Chelsea
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has announced the extension of his contract with the Blues.
Conte signed a new two-year deal which will see the Italian stay at Stamford Bridge until 2019.
“I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top,” Conte said.
Conte’s first season in charge of Chelsea proved extremely successful, leading the team to English Premier League victory last season.
Under Conte’s management, Chelsea won 30 games in the EPL last season, and secured a club record of 13 consecutive league victories.
He has been welcomed by Chelsea fans, many of whom shared their excitement about Conte’s contract extension on social media.
Conte thanked the fans for supporting him.
“The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together,” he said.
Chelsea club director, Marina Granovskaia, said that the club’s owners and directors are very happy with Conte’s managerial style, despite it being his first time in the English Premier League.
“This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League,” she said.
Chelsea is currently preparing for their pre-season tour of Asia, where they will face EPL rivals, Arsenal, as well as Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.
