City Target London Victory to Close Gap on Arsenal
Manchester City travel to Stamford Bridge in London, England, this Sunday, 12 April, to face a Chelsea side struggling for consistency.
While the Blues recently recorded a 7-0 cup win, they have lost four of their last five matches. City, meanwhile, arrive with high confidence after domestic cup successes against Arsenal and Liverpool.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior faces significant selection issues. Key defenders remain injured, and Enzo Fernandez is sidelined for disciplinary reasons. Rosenior noted, “There are certain values and cultures that I believe in, that this club believes in, that makes the team stronger if you get that right.”
Pep Guardiola’s side is under immense pressure to keep pace with league leaders Arsenal. With the title race at a “pivotal moment,” Guardiola warned his players they must be clinical to stay in contention. He stated, “In the situation we are in the Premier League, we need to win all of them, otherwise it will not give us the chance to try until the end.”
Statistically, the outlook is bleak for the hosts; Chelsea have not beaten City since 2021. Experts predict a City victory, with many expecting the visitors to take control early and exploit a depleted Chelsea backline.
