Chiyangwa Ready For New Role
Philip Chiyangwa, the newly elected ZIFA president, has said that he is ready to take on his new role as the head honcho of ZIFA.
Chiyangwa was elected president on Saturday after he got 40 votes in the election. His contenders, Trevor Carelse-Juul, Lesley Gwindi and James Takavada got 13, 2 and one votes(s) respectively.
After being elected as commander in, Chiyangwa then said that he would gladly work with his competitors:
“…[sic] I appreciate the challenge you guys gave me before I won these elections. You are very good men and it is unfortunate you lost…I am ready to work with you guys. James Takavada you are welcome and may you stand up, Carelse-Juul thank you and you are free to work with me. The same applies to you Gwindi,” he said at a press briefing.
Chiyangwa – a successful Zimbabwean businessman – will have to draw on his economic knowledge, as his first task as ZIFA president will be to deal with ZIFA’s (US)$6 million debt.
