Chelsea Seal Deal for Dortmund Winger Jamie Gittens

June 30, 2025

Chelsea have completed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens for £55.5 million, securing the England U21 international on a seven-year contract.

The 20-year-old winger, who began his youth career at Chelsea before spells at Manchester City and Dortmund, will undergo a medical ahead of joining up with Enzo Maresca’s squad.

The move follows weeks of negotiations, with an initial £42-million offer rebuffed earlier in June. Talks resumed during the Club World Cup in the United States, where both sides are competing.

However, Gittens will be ineligible for the Blues in the tournament due to FIFA regulations, having already featured for Dortmund.

Gittens enjoyed a stand-out campaign last season, contributing 12 goals and five assists in 48 appearances. With Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United and Joao Felix expected to depart, Gittens is seen as a key addition to strengthen Chelsea’s flanks.

Once finalised, he will compete with Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto for a starting role. A dynamic presence out wide, Gittens’ return to English football signals the Blues’ continued investment in young talent under their long-term project.

Chelsea’s transfer business continues, with further additions expected before the summer window closes.
