Chelsea Given Permission to Speak to Lampard

June 26, 2019

English Football League Championship club, Derby County, have granted Chelsea permission to speak to 41-year-old Frank Lampard over a return to Stamford Bridge as a replacement for manager Maurizio Sarri, who has left for Italian side, Juventus.

The deal has been in the pipeline for weeks but has now progressed after Derby failed to tie Lampard to a three year contract deal and a reconciliation for the Chelsea legend with his former club now seems likely.

The Championship club released a statement confirming that they’ve allowed a formal offer to be made to the former Chelsea midfielder regarding a managerial position.

The statement reads: “Derby County Football Club can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.”

Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay £4 million in compensation to get their legend back to Stamford Bridge.

Derby County owner, Mel Morris, is also prepared to welcome Lampard back with open arms should Chelsea fail to strike a deal.
