Chelsea has done it again!

The Blues have been crowned as the victors of the 2016/2017 English Premier League, after their stunning win over West Brom on Friday evening.

Chelsea beat a feisty West Brom 1-0 at The Hawthorns stadium, home of The Baggies.

The win took Chelsea 10 points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, who are still in second place and only have nine points left to play for, thus handing the Blues the title.

The winning goal all came down to the 82nd-minute, when Michy Batshuayi – a substitute for Chelsea legend Diego Costa – scored.Chelsea then managed to keep their opponents at bay for the remaining 8 minutes.

Manager, Antonio Conte, was beyond ecstatic when the final whistle blew, running onto the field to congratulate his hard-working players.

During an on-pitch interview just after the big win, Conte enthusiastically thanked his players and said that their attitude and commitment to winning meant a lot to him.

“This is a great achievement for the players…I thank them for their commitment and work-rate. They showed me a great attitude to try to do something great this season. After this win we must be happy, we must be pleased,” he said.

He continued, saying that the move to Chelsea wasn’t an easy one for him..

“It wasn’t easy for me to arrive in England and try different habits, a different language and inherit players after a bad season,” he said.

The win is Chelsea’s second in three seasons, having previously won the 2014/2015 season under leadership of current Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho.

This is Conte’s first win in the English Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he can escape the dreaded ‘second-season curse’ in the 2017/2018 season.
