Chelsea Cash In as Joao Felix Seals £43.7m Al-Nassr Move

July 28, 2025

Chelsea have agreed to sell Joao Felix to Al-Nassr in a £43.7 million-deal, allowing the English club to recover almost the entire fee they paid Atletico Madrid last summer.

The 25-year-old Portuguese international will undergo a medical in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, before linking up with compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo at the Saudi Pro League side.

Al-Nassr’s offer – which includes a £26.2 million up-front payment and £17.5 million in add-ons – was enough to see off competition from Felix’s former club Benfica. Reports suggest the forward will earn around £35 million per season on a two-year contract, more than ten times what Benfica had proposed.

Felix’s time at Chelsea failed to live up to expectations, despite two separate spells at Stamford Bridge. He also struggled to make an impact during his loans at Barcelona and AC Milan.

The sale will free up funds for Chelsea to accelerate their moves for RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons and Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, as the club looks to comply with UEFA’s financial rules.

Chelsea have already raised over £130 million through player sales this summer, but remain active in the market for reinforcements ahead of the new season.
