‘Chappie’ releasing next month
SA born director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) releases his third feature, Chappie next month and we’re all excited to see what he brings to the table.
The film stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, NINJA and ¥O-LANDI VI$$ER, Sigourney Weaver and Hugh Jackman.
Chappie is set in the near future in Johannesburg where robotic police droids protect society. One day, a totally new kind of robot is created, and that is Chappie (Sharlto Copley) – the first ever robot to feel emotion and think for himself.
Of course, this does not go well with everyone including Vincent Moore (Hugh Jackman) who believes that a thinking robot could lead to the extinction of all humankind. So he along with the authorities goes after Chappie in an attempt to take him out.
Despite Chappie not being human, his creator Deon Wilson (Dev Patel) sees his creation as humanity’s ‘last hope’.
Chappie hits SA screens on March 13, 2015.
