Changes Abound In Bafana U/23 Line-Up

December 07, 2015

South Africa’s national under 23 football team – also called Bafana Bafana – is set to face off against Tunisia tonight, and their coach has just announced a few changes in the starting line-up.

Bafana Bafana under-23 coach, Owen da Gama, announced today that he made two crucial changes in the team’s starting line-up.

The changes to the squad are in the midfield and upfront, with Phumlani Ntshangase coming in for his team and, on the attacking side, Gift Motupa and Siphelele Ntshangase will be at the start.

Dumisani Zuma and Phakamani Mahlambi will start on the bench.

Da Gama told reporters that he is confident in his side and that he feels he made the right selection in terms of the starting line-up:
“…[sic] I am quite confident that the team we have selected will do the job. We did not want to make too many changes, as we wanted to keep the momentum from the last match. Also, I do not want us worrying too much about them, we should focus on our game and they will worry about us. We have to take the game to them and we know an early goal will break them,” he said.

The game kicks off at 19:00 local time.

The team is:

Jody February (GK), Kwanda Mngonyama, Rivaldo Coetzee, Tebogo Moerane, Abbubaker Mobara, Keagan Dolly (c), Gift Motupa, Phumlani Ntshangase, Siphelele Ntshangase, Menzi Masuku, Deolin Mekoa

Substitutes: Ricardo Goss (GK), Kyle Peters (GK), Tshepo Rikhotso, Zitha Macheke, Denwin Farmer, Ryaad Norodien, Sibusiso Sibeko, Paseka Mako, Phakamani Mahlambi, Dumisani Zuma
