Cecil Killer Not To Be Charged

October 13, 2015

Cecil the Lion’s killer will not be charged for the killing, a cabinet minister said today.

Walter Palmer, the American dentist who became the centre of a media storm after killing the beloved Zimbabwean lion, will not be charged for the killing, according to Zimbabwe’s Environment Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

Apparently, even though the murder of Cecil was illegal as he was a rare black-maned lion being monitored by environmentalists, Palmer’s hunting papers were in order. Thus, it was not Palmer’s fault that he killed Cecil, the cabinet found.

“…[sic] We approached the police and then the Prosecutor General, and it turned out that Palmer came to Zimbabwe because all the papers were in order,” he said.

However, he continued saying that Palmer would be free to visit Zimbabwe again in the future, but only as a tourist and not a hunter.

There are two more people still facing charges for Cecil’s murder, both of whom were allegedly involved in using bait to lure Cecil out of his habitat in Hwange National Park so he could be killed.
