Camila Cabello Apologises for Racist Posts

December 19, 2019

Singer Camila Cabello has issued an apology to her fans, after racist posts from one of her old social media accounts resurfaced online.

According to reports, these posts – several of which contain images, memes and comments that include racial slurs against people of colour – were shared on Cabello’s now-deactivated Tumblr account in 2012.

Screenshots of the 22-year-old “Havana” hitmaker’s posts were uploaded to Twitter on Tuesday, 17 December, by a user named @motivatefenty.

In response, Cabello took to Twitter the next day to apologise for the offensive posts.

She wrote: “When I was younger, I used language that I’m deeply ashamed of and will regret forever. I was uneducated and ignorant, and once I became aware of the history, and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it.”

Cabello added: “I’ve grown and learned, and am conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries in a way I wasn’t before … I apologise again from the bottom of my heart.”’
