“Calm” Willian Gives Update on Chelsea Contract Talks
Amid rumours of renewed interest from FC Barcelona, Willian has provided an update on contract negotiations with his current club, Chelsea.
The 31-year-old forward – who has enjoyed a successful career with the Blues since 2013 – could potentially become a free agent once his contract expires in January 2020.
As a result, Barca – whose £40 million-bid to sign him this year was rejected – is reportedly keen to secure Willian’s services on a free transfer if he has not yet reached a new deal with Chelsea.
After scoring the winning goal for Chelsea in their 2-1 win against Lille on Wednesday, 2 October, the Brazilian star was asked in a media interview if there was any progress made on contract talks with the club’s executive board.
He answered: “No, no, nothing. [But] yes, I am still relaxed. I am calm, I am relaxed. I wait for the club.”
