Calisto Pasuwa Might Be Heading to Malawi
Former manager of Zimbabwe’s national football team, The Warriors, Callisto Pasuwa, has been linked with a possible move to Malawi.
Pasuwa is said to be in talks with the Malawian national football team management, to possibly take over as head coach for the international team.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has been on the lookout for a new head coach for the national team, as they prepare for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which start in June of this year.
According to reports, FAM has been inquiring about Pasuwa’s availability and whether or not he would be able to become the head coach of the Malawi national football team, also know as The Flames.
The Flames are currently without a coach, as former coach, Ernest Mtawali’s one-year contract has expired and has not been renewed by the FAM.
According to sources in Malawi, FAM has been in been in contact with Pasuwa, and are preparing to offer him a contract once they have sorted out government funding.
“They made an inquiry about Pasuwa’s availability. They are looking at bringing the coach here, so that he can take charge of the team, as we prepare for the Afcon 2019 qualifiers, as well as the Cosafa Cup later this year. It will also depend on the funding from government, who are currently going through a lot of financial problems. But yes Pasuwa is one of the coaches wanted by FAM [sic],” the source told the media.
Neither the FAM or Pasuwa has commented on the reports.
