California: Celebs Flee Homes as Wildfires Spread

October 29, 2019

The hills of Los Angeles are scorching hot, and that’s not a comment on the movie stars who live there – wildfires have been raging since Monday, 28 October, leading to widespread destruction and evacuations.

The flames have resulted in many residents – including big names like actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and basketball player LeBron James – fleeing their homes to escape the fiery danger.

Scwarzenegger, a former governor of California, posted on his Twitter account: “We evacuated safely at 3:30 this morning. If you are in an evacuation zone, don’t screw around. Get out.”

James also took to the social media platform to say: “Had to emergency evacuate my house and I’ve been driving around with my family trying to get rooms. No luck so far!”

High winds and sweltering temperatures have made it easy for any spark to flare up local vegetation, leading to California becoming an inferno.

No casualties from the fires have been reported, but a firefighter was injured in the northern part of the state, in Sonoma County wine country.
