Caitlyn Jenner wins an ESPY award
Caitlyn Jenner was honoured with an ESPY award and accepted it with an emotional speech.
An ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) award honours athletes, and winning a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in the men’s decathlon all but qualified Jenner for an award.
Jenner – who recently transitioned from a male to a female – was honoured with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
In the 11-minute speech which you can watch below, Jenner highlighted what she went through, transgender acceptance and even thanked her family for their support.
Jenner also had the crowd smiling when she made a few humorous remarks.
“Picking out this outfit, OK girls, I get it: You’ve got to get the shoes, the hair, the makeup. The whole process, it’s exhausting — and next, the Fashion Police! Please be kind on me, I’m new at this!” joked Jenner.
