CAF pots Revealed for AFCON 2017 Draw
With the African Cup of Nations drawing closer and closer, the time has come to draw the groups for the group stage of the competition to see which African teams will have a place in the tournament.
The draw will take place on the 19th of October to determine the various groups.
The top seeds for this year’s draw included Gabon – who is also hosting the tournament – as well as Algeria, Ghana and cup holders Côte d’ivoire.
The seedings for the pots had been approved by the CAF during a meeting at their headquarters in Cairo.
Zimbabwe finds themselves in an interesting pot alongside Uganda, Togo and Guinea Bissau.
Below is a list of the four different pots entered for the draw:
Pot 1: Gabon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana , Algeria
Pot 2: Tunisia ,Mali ,Burkina Faso, DR Congo
Pot 3: Cameroon,Senegal,Morocco,Egypt
Pot 4: Togo,Uganda, Zimbabwe,Guinea Bissau
The 2017 African Cup of Nations tournament will take place in Gabon from the 14th of January to the 5th of February 2017.
