October 26, 2015

A buffalo has attacked and fatally wounded a 68-year old woman from Tsholotsho. It is said that the woman sustained multiple injuries from the attack and passed away in hospital shortly after.

The woman, who was busy bringing in her cattle, was attacked by the buffalo at dusk. She reportedly had a broken arm, leg and ribs.

According to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, the woman was attacked by a wounded Cape buffalo. Thee buffalos are notorious for their aggression and a wounded buffalo is even more aggressive, according to wildlife experts.

It is believed that this particular buffalo had spear wounds all over its body, thus making it more aggressive. The spear wounds are believed to have been the result of poachers trying to poach the animal.

The buffalo had also attacked a 4-year old girl before it was shot down by park rangers. The girl is currently recovering in hospital with a fractured leg.
