BTS Fans Slam Katy Perry over Insult
Katy Perry has landed herself in hot water after seemingly insulting the super fans of popular South Korean boy band, BTS.
In recent years, BTS have taken the world by storm with their catchy tunes and funky dance moves.
On their road to fame, the seven-member group have amassed a global fanbase, with millions of these loyal followers calling themselves the “ARMY”.
After BTS performed at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2019 on Saturday, 6 December, at The Forum in Los Angeles, California, Perry joked that the group’s fans in the audience should be happy because “most of you get to stay up late past your bedtime.”
Videos from the event show many members of the ARMY – angered by the “Dark Horse” hitmaker’s insinuation that they were children – leaving the venue.
Other BTS fans stayed, but reportedly remained silent throughout Perry’s performance.
Fans have since criticised Perry online, with one livid fan writing on Twitter: “People (and Katy Perry) need to understand BTS has the most DIVERSE fan base [sic], different races, skin tones, religions, ages and genders … that’s why we are the strongest fandom out there.”
