Britney Spears Making A Return to Disney

Life is about to come full circle for Britney Spears!

The popstar will soon take a bow at the place where it all started for her, 23 years ago. And that place is none other than the ‘happiest place on Earth’: Disney.

Britney made her debut as pop starlet on the Disney musical TV show, the Mickey Mouse Club, as a ‘Mouseketeer’ in the early 90’s and it was undoubtedly her appearance on the show that catapulted her into stardom.

She was also not the only star to be part of the show.

Britney was a cast member along with fellow pop diva, Christina Aguilera, actor Ryan Gosling and ex-boyfriend and singer, Justin Timberlake.

And now, Britney will be linked with Disney once again.

Britney will be the inaugural recipient of the Icon Award at this year’s Radio Disney Music Awards.

This is the first time that the ‘Icon Award’ will be awarded, and Disney said that they created the award to recognize “a distinguished artist whose career transcends popular culture and whose music is loved by generations of Radio Disney fans.”

Naturally, Britney is the perfect recipient for this first-time award.

VP of Music Strategy at Disney Channels Worldwide, Phil Guerini, said that Disney is proud to award the Icon Award to Britney.

“Having just celebrated 20 years of Radio Disney in 2016, we are excited to introduce the RDMA ‘Icon’ Award as special recognition of an artist whose music has been loved and adored by generations of Radio Disney fans..We are proud to celebrate Britney as the first recipient for this award acknowledging her chart-topping career on Radio Disney since 1998,” he said.

This year’s Radio Disney Music Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on the 29th of April.
