Britney Spears Challenges Conservatorship in Court

November 06, 2020

Britney Spears is making moves to remove her father as the co-conservator of her estate.

Since 2008, the “Stronger” hitmaker’s father, Jamie Spears, has been responsible for a majority of her estate, following his daughter’s heavily publicised personal issues.

In court documents filed on Tuesday, 3 November, the 38-year-old singer’s lawyer, Sam Ingham, requested that her client’s father be removed from his position, and that the Bessemer Trust Company serve as her conservator instead.

The Bessemer Trust Company is a private independent firm that looks after $140 billion for over 2 500 families.

The documents also allege that Spears’ business managing company, Tristar Sports and Entertainment Group, resigned suddenly without warning late last month, and that Mr Spears hired a replacement without consulting his daughter.

Ingham wrote: “It is now obvious that any effort to create a viable working relationship between and among [Spears], Bessemer Trust and [Mr Spears] would be doomed to failure even without the added stress of litigating [Spears’] objections to the Account [sic].”

Here’s hoping whatever the outcome will be, it will benefit Spears in the long-run.
