January 10, 2017

Saturday night was a big night for Harare-based mbira musician, Brighton Shumba, as he was crowned the winner of this year’s StarBrite Talent Competition.

This year’s competition was held in Bulawayo for the first time in six years on Saturday evening at the Family of God church’s auditorium.

The contestants performed in front of a packed audience – and while it was a fierce competition, Shumba ploughed his way through the competition, winning both the singing category and overall category.

This year’s judges included R&B singer Alaina, TV personality Tin Tin, musician Ba Shupi and others.

Besides the bragging rights of winning such a prestigious competition, Shumba also walked away with $25 000 worth of prizes.

His prizes included a recording contract, a residential stand with 20 000 bricks, a funeral policy from Doves, headphones, a cell phone, a trip to the Victoria Falls and a scholarship from Music Cross Roads.
