Bombings Across Baghdad Kill 7
Late last night, the skies of Baghdad were set alight by three separate bombings. Security sources say that so far a total of 7 people have been reported dead and 17 injured.
One of the explosions occurred in the northwest of al-Hamamiyat district. According to police captain Yasser al-Mustafa, the blast injured seven people and killed three.
Another of the bombings occurred near the Ad-Devra district where an explosive device was set off, killing three people and injuring nine.
Finally, the last bombing came in the form of a car bomb which was denoted in the city centre. This killed one person and injured another.
Security in the region has significantly deteriorated since the middle of 2014 when Daesh captured the northern city of Mosul and took over various swathes of land to the north and west of the country. Mosul is not the target of a massive army offensive.
No one has yet claimed responsibilities for the bombings that occurred last night, however, many are raising eyebrows in the direction of Daesh, who have been accused of other very similar attacks.
