Bolasie Exits Villa, Everton Career in Doubt

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie’s future with the club is in doubt, after he unexpectedly cut his loan spell at Aston Villa short.

The 29-year-old French player joined Villa on loan in August last year, after making only 17 appearances for the Toffees in the last campaign following a knee injury.

According to Everton coach, Marco Silva, Bolasie – who made 21 appearances and scored twice for Villa – activated his own return to the Toffees, albeit without consulting Silva first.

He explained: “When [Bolasie] took the decision to come back, we didn’t expect it, even though he has that option in his contract.”

Silva also reiterated that there is little chance that the winger will play for Everton this season, and a decision regarding his future will be made in the coming days.

He said: “We will do what is the best solution for [Bolasie] and us as a club. We have four wingers in our squad and we are happy with them … there are more days to decide what will be our decision before the end of the month.”
