Bodies of Drowned SA Friends Return Home
The bodies of four South Africans who drowned whilst holidaying in Mozambique have been returned to the country.
The four friends – identified as Lesego Matsepe, Mmatholo Mogafe, David Kaise and Gregory Mfune – were on a boat cruise with four others en route to Mozambique’s Inhaca Island on Monday, January 14, when the tragic incident occurred.
Per reports, five members of the group went swimming, but were swept away from the shore by a strong current. While one member safely made it back to shore, the other four went missing.
Their bodies left Maputo and were returned to their families South Africa on Tuesday night, 22 January.
According to the families’ spokesperson, Bongani Diako, a joint funeral will be held on Sunday, 27 January, for Matsepe and Mogafe, who both hailed from Groblersdal in Limpopo.
On Saturday, 26 January, Mfune will be laid to rest in Bethlehem, Limpopo, while Kaise’s funeral will take place in Embalenhle, Mpumalanga.
