As the new year kicks into gear, we thought we’d share some of the top beauty trends set to reign in 2017!
- Bountiful braids
From delicate plaits to woven chignons and braided top knots, this year is all about the modern romance that only braids can create. Part of this trend is combining the look with a taupe makeup palette – a versatile shade that suits everyone!
- Bringing back the 80s
After all the 80s pop culture references in TV and film recently – think Dallas Buyers Club, Drive, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters – this year will see a return to fashion inspired by this era, especially its rave culture!
- The ombre lip
While the red lip remains a timeless classic, this year we’re going to see a more fiery version, namely the ombre red lip. This stylish look is achieved by outlining the lip with a bold red and filling in with a brighter orange tone. Finish off with a gloss to seal in this summery trend.
- Metallic nails
This trend is exploding on the fashion scene, whether it’s on the catwalk or the red carpet, celebrities and fashionistas alike are going mad over the mirror finish look. For extra embellishment, use nail glue to add some tiny gems before your final top coat. So pull out your chrome polishes and gems and get ready to shine – literally!
- Stylish side partings
Whether short or long, braided or natural, deep side partings are a must this year! You can work this hair styling tip on up or down styles to complement any face shape.
- Bold blush
This year the trick of using a bit of lipstick to give your cheeks that warm glow is back with a vengeance! Gone are the days of laborious contouring and bronzing. Now all you need is a bit of your favourite lipstick to give yourself the rosy complexion that everyone will be yearning for.
- Bare beauty
While there may be a load of fantastic new makeup products and techniques on the scene in 2017, celebrities have increasingly adopted what the French would describe as an “au naturel” look. Stars such as Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Cameron Diaz have been embracing the makeup free trend since 2016, and their skin has thanked them for it!
