Barcelona’s Crosshairs Fall on Kane and Haaland

Barcelona have drawn up an ambitious shortlist featuring Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as they search for a center-forward to replace Robert Lewandowski following his summer departure to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.

The Catalan giants are determined to sign an elite striker while manager Hansi Flick relies on Raphinha to hold the central fort. Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona’s primary long-term target, but potential negotiating hurdles have prompted the club to explore alternative options.

Reports indicate the Spanish side is closely monitoring Kane as a potential short-term solution. The 33-year-old England captain’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2027, and while extension talks are underway in Germany, Barca have made initial contact with his representatives.

Meanwhile, Manchester City hitman Haaland remains a secondary option on the club’s radar, though his current contract through 2034 presents significant financial and contractual obstacles.

Financing a move for either forward presents a substantial hurdle given Barcelona’s ongoing tight purse strings. However, the club’s active search underscores their commitment to boosting Flick’s attacking line.
