Barcelona Keen on Signing N’Golo Kante

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante, in a swap deal which could see Philippe Coutinho heading for Stamford Bridge in the transfer window

The La Liga giants are busy reshuffling their starting IV and want the services of Chelsea’s powerful running machine to strengthen their midfield.

Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic are both set to be sold during the transfer window, and Barca have targeted Kante as a powerful replacement for them.

Although the 29-year-old still has three years left on his current Chelsea contract, he hasn’t been vital in Frank Lampard’s team. The midfielder missed 20 of Chelsea’s 42 games this season due to a host of injuries.

The Blues have a number of midfielders, even though they are unlikely to quite match Kante’s skill, they are still valuable, hence Lampard might consider the swap deal to secure Coutinho’s signature.

Barcelona are holding out for a £75m transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder but clubs are unlikely to pay that much for a player his age.

Chelsea have previously considered a season long loan deal for Coutinho with the aim of making him permanent, but this swap deal may be the easiest and most affordable way to sign the Brazilian.
