Barcelona Coach: Suarez Out, Messi Possibly In
Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez, will miss the club’s Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur today following a recent knee injury.
The 31-year-old Uruguayan sustained the injury when Barca clashed with Atletico Madrid on 24 November. He underwent stem cell treatment for the injury.
The striker then made his return last Saturday, 8 December, scoring for Barcelona in their 4-0 win over Espanyol. Nevertheless, he remained in doubt for playing against the Spurs.
Speaking to reporters on Monday at a pre-game press conference, head coach, Ernesto Valverde, confirmed that Suarez will definitely not feature in the match.
However, Valverde did hint at the possibility of Lionel Messi being included in the line-up.
He explained: “When they see the line-up, they will see if Messi is there, but the important thing is to go out on the field motivated because they are going to have a team playing in front of them.”
