
Autumn Juices: Boost Your Immune System
It may be hard to imagine, but summer is slowing fading away, which means we have to make way for autumn and the chills it will eventually bring.
Illnesses are rife during the transitioning of the seasons. Whether it’s a simple cold or full-on flu, the window between summer and autumn always brings along viruses and infections.
That is why it is so important to boost your immune system during this time. Making sure you get enough vitamins and minerals can save you from that cursed cold or dreaded flu.
The best and easiest way to ensure you consume enough vitamins and minerals daily, is to drink super juices.
Juicing has become very popular over the last two years and it is easy to see why. Not only do the fruits retain most of their nutrients during the juicing process, but it’s also quick and easy to make – perfect for people on the go.
Here are some of our favourite healthy juice recipes that are sure to boost your immune system before the autumn chill sets in.
Carrot & Pear Super Juice
Ingredients:
5 large carrots
2 medium apples
1 medium pear
¼ of fresh ginger root
1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves
Method:
In a juicer or blender, add the fruits and carrots. Remember to cut them into smaller pieces so that they are easier to juice.
Once the carrots, apples and pear have been juiced, add in the ¼ root of ginger and fresh mint leaves and blend.
Serve cold.
Virgin Bloody Mary
This is not a traditional Bloody Mary, so don’t worry about getting a little tipsy!
Ingredients:
3 medium tomatoes
1 cup kale
1 red bell pepper
2 celery ribs
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Tabasco sauce
Ground pepper
Salt
Method:
Start juicing or blending the tomatoes, kale and bell pepper together. Once these have been blended or juiced, add the Worcestershire sauce, along with the Tabasco sauce to the mixture.
Lastly, add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with one or two celery sticks over ice.
Kiwi Strawberry Super Juice
Ingredients:
1 cup strawberries
2 kiwis
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
Splash of lemon juice
Method:
Juice or blend the strawberries and kiwis together and then add the splash of fresh lemon juice and mix well.
Next, add the tablespoon of ginger and fresh mint leaves and blend or juice again.
Serve cold or over ice.
