Aston Villa Secure £28m Deal for Striker Evann Guessand
Aston Villa have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Evann Guessand from Nice in a deal worth up to £28 million.
The 24-year-old forward, who has agreed to a five-year contract and will wear the number 29 shirt, arrives after scoring 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season, earning recognition as one of the division’s standout performers.
Guessand attracted interest from clubs across Europe, including Wolves, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace, as well as a lucrative offer from Saudi side, Neom, but chose Villa following discussions with manager Unai Emery.
“This club is special. History, pride, passion, [and] the belief. When I heard they wanted me I didn’t think twice. I am ready to give my all, every game, every minute,” he said in a statement shared via the Villans’ X/Twitter account.
Capable of playing across the front line, the French footballer adds depth alongside Ollie Watkins after the departures of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio at the end of their loan spells. Guessand becomes Villa’s third summer signing, alongside goalkeeper Marco Bizot and Yasin Ozcan, who was immediately loaned to Anderlecht.
Villa have also rebuffed an £18-million bid from Everton for captain John McGinn, signalling their intent to retain key players ahead of the new campaign.
