Arsenal vs PSG Champions League Semi-Final Odds
The wait is finally over: Arsenal will battle Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) meeting tonight, Tuesday 29 April, and former footballer William Gallas has weighed in.
The 47-year-old ex-Gunners defender believes PSG’s lack of composure could cost them in the UCL semi-final at the Emirates Stadium in London, England.
Despite reaching four of the last six semi-finals, the Parisians have made the final only once. Gallas cited their nervy quarter-final against Aston Villa two weeks ago as evidence that they remain vulnerable under pressure.
“At this stage of the competition, it’s almost 50-50. Anyone can win it. That’s why Arsenal against PSG will also be 50-50,” he claimed, but noted Arsenal’s ruthless efficiency gives them the edge. “If Arsenal score first, it could be a great night for the Gunners.”
However, the French champions have since secured the Ligue 1 title for a record-extending 13th time, and bolstered their squad with Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who are likely to be key threats in the May return leg.
Gallas also urged Martin Odegaard to deliver a big performance, following a lull this season due to injury setbacks. He urged the 26-year-old Norwegian midfielder to match the levels shown by Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka in Arsenal’s quarter-final triumph over Real Madrid.
With the home side’s English Premier League title hopes now dashed, Mikel Arteta’s men are fully focused on Europe, aiming for a place in the final against either Barcelona or Inter Milan at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on 31 May.
