Arsenal Thrash Spurs 4-1 to Reignite Title Charge

February 23, 2026

Arsenal re-established a five-point English Premier League (EPL) lead with a commanding 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 22 February.

Following a frustrating midweek 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta hailed the result as a potential “turning point” for his squad at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.

The visitors exploited tactical flaws in Igor Tudor’s 3-5-2 system, specifically targeting the right flank. Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber dominated the wings, forcing Spurs’ attackers to track back deep into defensive positions.

Eberechi Eze, starting after recent spells on the bench, proved his worth by scoring twice. Viktor Gyokeres also netted a brace, benefiting from the space created by Eze’s movement.

While Spurs briefly equalised through Randal Kolo Muani, they struggled to maintain the physical intensity required to press Arsenal. Tudor remained pragmatic about the gap between the rivals, stating: “I’m very sad, but in one way it’s good to understand where we are, to have a game to show you reality.”

Despite the emphatic win, the EPL title race remains tense; Manchester City still control their own destiny with a game in hand. Nevertheless, Arteta expressed immense pride in his team’s resilience, saying, “I cannot be prouder and happier from what I saw out there.”
